Keep a file on each quilt you make. Include designs, sketches, patterns or pattern references, any historical data or notes about materials, batting types, threads, special techniques or embellishments used, sources for the design or materials, receipts for mailing or insurance, show documents, awards letters, and pictures on a CD. You might want to try a similar quilt or technique in the future, and all the information will be at your fingertips when you need it. Should the quilt ever be stolen or damaged, you’ll have complete records for the insurance company.
