I woke up Friday morning feelin’ a bit Swanky.

So I played a little in EQ6, and threw together little quilt design with attitude.

Driving GuitarGirl to work, I experimented with layouts. Would an on-point setting be better than a straight set? Let’s see, that would be 1, 2, 3, 4, … 5, 6, 7, …8, 9, 10, 11, … no, too many blocks, but what about 1, 2, 3, … 4, 5, … 6, 7, 8, … hmm, that might work.

Then I mentally pawed through my stash on the drive home, and wondered if this fabric could be the background (I took the pics after I got home, not while driving! :) ):

Yes, looks cleaner and the print looks more in tune with the charm squares. Hmm. It might need a touch of blue:

Oh, well, maybe, but how about green?

Better. This looked like spring.

Swanky quilt in EQ

Back to EQ, to see that no, the on-point set was too, well, too something. Whatever it was, I didn’t like it. Have to make the straight set. But the blue fabric could make it into the quilt for the binding. Maybe. Before I started cutting, I decided to spritz the charm squares with water, since prewashing would be a pain, but the other fabrics I chose were already washed.

A short wait for fabric drying, a bit of cutting and some easy sewing, and I was enjoying the hands on fabric time.

And today there will be quilting! :)

    Hi! Love your site, and have poked around looking at things. Since among all the hats I wear is one labeled “part time web designer” I especially was drawn to your site/blog. Everything is so crisp, clean, bright, and ESPECIALLY easily navigable!!
    I have been sewing for many years, quilting for a few (by hand). Your work is awesome! Thanks for the tips and ideas, too.
    What I would like to know, is how is Shadow? My studio kitty perked up at the pictures, and hopes the recovery has been completed!

      Shadow has fully recovered finally, and is back to his old tricks and getting into trouble every day, though we hope to keep him away from needles and pins and the like from now on. Thanks for asking!
