I’ve been forgetting to mention that September is my UFO (Rebellion) Month. If you haven’t listened to the Driven To Quilt Podcast from September 4, you’re missing out on some great ideas that will free you from UFO associated guilt forever!
My husband used to nag me (just a little) about my quilting UFO’s, but he’s seen the light, I guess, and now realizes that they are a part of my creativity, as well as evidence of just how much creative energy I have. If you’re feeling guilty about the number of UFO’s in your quilting room, listen to the Podcast, then go out and get yourself a “UFO’s are Creativity” shirt in honor of UFO Month. You deserve to be proud of your creative spirit!

My new toy:

Now that’s fun! Picked it up last Thursday, and as much as I love quilting, right now I love driving my car more. I learned to drive in a Mustang years ago, but this one is so much better than that one was back then. I guess this is my second teenagehood car or something. It definintely rocks! But, I know I need to get that quilt done, so off I go to quilt some more!

Here’s the view from my sewing chair today:

This quilt has been an interesting exercise in following the line, but not quilting on the line. Let me explain. See, I’m quilting right on the edge of all the appliqué pieces, so that means following the edge of the piece, but not quilting on the line that I’m following, which requires a bit of an adjustment. When you’re used to watching a marked line just ahead of the needle to machine quilt, it’s a bit weird to have to watch to the side a little to get the needle to go where you want. I think my quilting could be better quality-wise, but it gets better as I go. Of course, I’m just about done with the “on the edge” parts anyway now, and ready to start the background quilting, so hopefully I can have this done by October 1st. Always a deadline…
